Global Impact has taken the initiative to start the Tree Seed Bank, a dedicated cause to preserve the forests of today for tomorrow. We have started to collect seed from the Hardwood and semi-hardwood forests of North America in an effort to regenerate the loss of forests from clear cutting and to educate the land owners to take the necessary steps to preserve our natural resources. We hope to extend our cause throughout the world.

Desertification

One of the leading factors of desertification is deforestation.

Deforestation one of the leading factors in the expansion of the desert is not the only culprit. There are other manmade factors that keep the deserts encroaching. Wind and water erosion, strip the fertile organic and mineral rich soils away from the soil surface, leaving barren desolate wastelands. After the loss of these fertile lands it is very difficult to reclaim any of these areas. Areas already arid become ever expanding and are overtaken with wind blown soils and sands.

Man can't take all the blame since drought is natures biggest promoter of desertification but, is man responsible for some of the periods of drought? I question the way we treat things we don't understand by blaming everything that goes wrong on something other than man. It must just be a climatic cycle! Hogwash we contribute more leverage on the environment than it can handle thus it rears its ugly head and fights back with storms, unseasonably summers and uncommonly warm winters, throwing checks and balances off. Disease is running rampant and new diseases are popping up every day. These are all ways nature is fighting back the over population to regain the balance of carrying capacity. Who will win will it be  man or will it be the planet earth. Can we live in harmony or are we going to continue to rape and pillage the earth until it is too late
